Hot Cross Buns

These Hot Cross Buns are the perfect way to add a homemade touch to your Easter spread. Soft, fluffy, and with that signature cross on top, they’re a sweet, spiced delight that’s sure to impress. The secret? SPICETUB's Banana Bread Mix – it makes these buns perfectly moist with just the right balance of sweetness and spice. Makes 8-10 buns 
INGREDIENTS

4 1/4 cups plain flour
3 tsp instant dried yeast
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 orange, zest only
50g unsalted butter, melted
1 1/2 cups milk, warm
1 egg
1 1/2 cups sultanas
1 tbsp SPICETUB Banana Bread Mix

CROSSES
1/2 cup plain flour
5 tbsp water

GLAZE
1 tbsp apricot jam
2 tsp water


METHOD

Combine dry ingredients (except sultanas and spice mix) with wet ingredients. Mix well and knead the dough. Add sultanas and spice mix, knead until smooth. Cover with cling wrap and let rise for 40 mins or until doubled. Punch dough, roll into a log, and cut into 12 even pieces. Place on a lined tray, cover, and let rise again. For the cross, mix flour and water, then pipe onto buns. Bake at 180°C for 20+ mins until golden (check colour). For glaze, heat jam and water, then brush over buns. Enjoy warm with butter! Enjoy!
