Lasagne Bolognese

Making lasagne is time consuming but I can assure you that this recipe will make it allllll worth your time and you will forget about the hours spent cooking it and just enjoy every bite full of this delicious, perfectly seasoned and addictive pasta layered goodness!

Lasagne Bolognese

Serves 6 | Prep time: 30min | Total time: 2hrs 30min

INGREDIENTS

1 carrot, thinly diced
1 zucchini, thinly diced
1 celery stalk, thinly diced
1 onion, thinly diced
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
400g pork mince
400g beef mince
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 can diced tomatoes
3 tsp SPICETUB Pizza Master + extra to sprinkle
10-12 dried lasagne sheets
150g Parmesan cheese, shredded

Béchamel Sauce

1 litre milk
80g butter
100g flour
2 tsp SPICETUB Pizza Master
Pinch nutmeg

METHOD

You can either prepare your vegetables by thinly slicing it or I prefer the lazy method and placing them into a food processor and creating a paste like consistency that can be completely hidden in the lasagne. Cook your veggies in the olive oil over medium heat for about 5min until they start softening. Add the mince meat and cook for about 8min until browned. Keep breaking up the meat with a spoon and make sure that it doesn't catch on the bottom of your saucepan. Add the white wine and cook on medium for another 5min. Lastly, add the tomatoes and SPICETUB Pizza Master, cover with a lid and cook for 20min on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
While the bolognese is cooking, prepare your Béchamel sauce by adding all ingredients into a second saucepan and cooking it for 12min on medium heat stirring occasionally until thickening slightly. Make sure that the milk doesn't catch on the bottom of your saucepan.
Preheat the oven to 180C and lightly grease a casserole dish.
Layer the casserole dish with a thin layer of the bolognese sauce first, followed by pasta sheets, more bolognese sauce, some Parmesan cheese and a layer of the Béchamel sauce. Repeat this layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of Béchamel and the last sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. To finish the lasagne, generously sprinkle the top with the SPICETUB Pizza Master.
Bake in the oven for 30-40min until the cheese is starting to brown on the top. Let rest for 15min before cutting into lasagna squares. Enjoy!
